Operating in a responsible and sustainable manner is important to Mereway Kitchens Ltd. While we run our business in line with the expectations of a wide range of stakeholders, we also see corporate responsibility as a discipline that helps us manage risks and maximize on the opportunities available to us in a changing world. Our Corporate Governance Policies are intended to provide a framework for the governance of Mereway Kitchens Ltd and adherence to our policies and related operating procedures is the responsibility of every Mereway Kitchens Ltd Director, Manager and Employee.

We are committed to understanding, monitoring and managing our social, environmental and economic impact to enable us to contribute to society’s wider goal of sustainable development. This commitment is deeply ingrained in our core values and we aim to demonstrate these responsibilities through our actions and within our corporate policies.

Mereway Kitchens Ltd Directors are to act as role models by incorporating these considerations into decision making in all business activities. Mereway Kitchens Ltd Directors are to ensure that appropriate organizational structures are in place to effectively identify, monitor, and manage Corporate Social Responsibility issues and performance relevant to our business.

This Policy is built on the following areas that reflect existing and emerging standards of Corporate Social Responsibility:

Business Ethics and Transparency

Mereway Kitchens Ltd is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and corporate governance practices in order to maintain excellence in its daily operations, and to promote confidence in its governance systems.

We will conduct its business in an open, honest, and ethical manner.

We recognise the importance of protecting all our human, financial, physical, informational, social, environmental, and reputational assets.

We will advise its partners, contractors, and suppliers of its Corporate Social Responsibility Policy, and will work with them to achieve consistency with this policy.

We are committed to measuring, auditing and tracking the performance of its Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

Environment Health & Safety

Mereway Kitchens is committed to protecting the health and safety of all individuals affected by our activities, including our employees, contractors and the public. We will provide a safe and healthy working environment and will not compromise the health and safety of any individual. Our goal is to have no accidents and mitigate impacts on the environment by working with our stakeholders, peers and others to promote responsible environmental practices and continuous improvement.

公主被两个双胞胎师傅As such we are committed to procuring timber and timber products from independently verified sources. We recognise that the independent, third party certification of forests and the supply chain is the optimal way of gaining assurances that the timber we trade originates from legal and well-managed forests.

公主被两个双胞胎师傅To this end Mereway Kitchens Ltd have achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) Chain of Custody Certification (COC) for a range of products we purchase, manufacture and sell.

We source our raw materials from certified suppliers where possible. We actively encourage and support all our suppliers to go through the certification process and to increase the volume of certified material traded.

Where COC certification is unavailable and alternative sources or products are sought, then as a minimum standard we will not procure any timber that is prohibited under Appendix 1 of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). The company also declares that it is committed to complying with the full requirements of PEFC certification and applicable standards and the “Policy of the Association of Organisations with FSC” (FSC-POL-01-004), and that it is neither directly or indirectly involved in the following activities:

  • Illegal logging or the trade in illegal wood or forest products;
  • Violation of traditional and human rights in forestry operations;
  • Destruction of high conservation values in forestry operations;
  • Significant conversion of forests to plantations or non-forest use;
  • Introduction of genetically modified organisms in forestry operations;
  • Violation of any of the ILO Core Conventions, as defined in the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, 1998.

公主被两个双胞胎师傅The Commercial Director is responsible for maintaining this policy and ensuring that environmental issues relevant to this policy are discussed regularly at the highest level of management.

公主被两个双胞胎师傅We will ensure that all employees associated with Timber Purchasing are encouraged to act in accordance with this policy and are given appropriate education and training to do so. This policy will be reviewed annually to consider progress made by our supply chain, changes in industry practice and the requirements of our customers.

Stakeholder Relations

We are proud of our commitment to apply fair labour practices and are committed to providing equal opportunity in all aspects of employment. We do not engage in or tolerate unlawful workplace conduct, including discrimination, intimidation, or harassment.

Mereway Kitchens Ltd works with our suppliers to help them treat their workers and employees fairly and with dignity and respect, maintain safe working conditions, and conduct manufacturing activities in an environmentally safe and responsible manner. We do not tolerate human rights abuses, human trafficking and/or slavery, and will not engage or be complicit in any activity that solicits or encourages human rights abuse. As part of this endeavour, we actively manage a Supplier Management Procedure.

Community Involvement

Mereway Kitchens Ltd strives to understand and respect the cultural values of wherever we operate. We actively support initiatives in those communities where our employees live and work. This commitment is visible in our contributions of financial, equipment and charitable contributions. We encourage our employees to contribute time and energy in leadership and other roles in community organisations.
